East Enders questionnaire results
Main Page
All respondents are East Enders and the majority of questionnaires were answered within the stand itself v Coventry City and Blackpool.

Of the questionnaires completed fifty six are identified by the fans full name, six were not identified and one questionnaire had been attacked by a dyslexic on cider [spoiled!]. All questionnaires are available for Bristol City supporters trust or the club to inspect.

The original intention was to have a sample size of one hundred fans but this was not reached due to the questionnaire taking longer than expected for fans to fill out, a lack of people to help and a lack of motivation due to actually wanting to watch the games.

Fans can draw their own conclusions from the questions asked as they may consider them to be loaded or leading. Interpretation of results is given but it is not suggested that this is a perfect questionnaire or that those who helped out are experts in the exact methodology.

Nobody at BCFC or amongst supporters groups has undertaken anything similar to find out what fans in the East End really think. So within the following hopefully there is at least something which a bit of credence can be placed upon and either of interest or worthy of  further research by BCFC or fans groups.

[1] Are you a season ticket holder?
Yes 46   No 16

[2] Do think the clubs restrictions on ticket sales for the East End are justified?
Yes 0   No 60    Don't Know  2

Despite the club feeling they had no choice but to introduce certain Ticketing restrictions fans using the stand appear to utterly disagree.
[3] Do you agree there should be no restrictions on ticket sales for the East End at all?
Yes 53   No 9   Don't Know  0

Even allowing for any ambiguity in the question fans be they season ticket holders or those who have attended via the bring a friend scheme do not get to buy tickets, bring friends or get to access ticket offers in the same manner as other supporters.
[4] As a Bristol City fan who uses the East End do feel you are treated in the same manner as fans in other stands?
Yes 5   No 52   Don't Know 5

Seems quite straightforward.
[5] Should Bristol City be doing more to help fans get into the East End?
Yes  62   No 0   Don't Know 0.

The East End has always been about paying on the day to gain admittance. Those who campaigned to get this stand reopened always did this on the basis of the stand being pay on the day and nothing else. The majority of those who did buy season tickets were not aware that the prerequisite of a season ticket was necessary to watch their team. The East End was traditionally a stand for those on low incomes, open for all and it seems that many who could afford season tickets bought them under a misconception.
[6] Were you aware before the season started that the East End was season ticket holders only?
Yes 12  No 50

Taking away anomalies like fans who may not have attended this game the answers provided are suggesting that Police and Steward levels were not adequate.
[7] Do you feel Police and Steward levels within the East End were adequate v QPR?
Yes 5   No 26   Don't Know  31

For a Bristol City v Cardiff City match even allowing for non attendees those answering yes should be outnumbering those who answered no.
[8] Do you feel that enough Police were in place in the East End at the end of the match v Cardiff?
Yes 7   No 29   Don't Know 26

Any membership scheme could be against the wishes of the majority of East Enders and any scheme which may be considered should be part of a thorough and open process of consultation involving EastEnders.
[9] Would you be in favour of membership scheme for the East End?
Yes 26   Don't Know  8  No 28

Bristol City supporters club do attend BCFC board meetings and if the Supporters Club truly represent the fans of Bristol City they can start acting on behalf of support within the East End.
[10] Should the Supporters club be acting on behalf of fans regarding ticket restrictions placed on the East End?
Yes  57   No 0   Don't Know 5

[11] How well do you feel the Bristol City Supporters trust has represented fans concerns regarding the East End?
Very Poorly 9  Poorly 19   Don't Know 20  Ok  7   Good 6   Very Good 1.

Seemingly most fans within the East End think the Bristol City Supporters trusts performance on their behalf is either poor or they don't know what has been done. If Supporters were aware of the following the response could have been quite different.

Bristol City Supporters trust have

"        Put the East End on a Standing agenda  for meetings with BCFC
"        Questioned the stewarding and policing of the QPR game
"        Written articles regarding the East End which are available for fans
"        Questioned Bristol City's under sixteen pricing/season ticket policy for the East End
"        Questioned decision not to offer sales of half season ticket for the East End
"        Agreed with BCFC for season ticket transfers between stands
"        Suggested the bring a friend option at a question and answer session with the Chairman.

The problem for the trust here is that all this does not seem to be visible to fans within the East End, BCFC have simply gone back on what fans thought had been agreed more than once and some East Enders see the trust as being too close to BCFC, not tenacious, open or proactive enough. This notion is something for the trust to overcome and the possibility of a East End Trust Sub Group being formed would surely improve the image of the group of fans who are short on numbers but doing much more than others on the behalf of City's support.

The group of fans who are short on numbers but doing much more than others on the behalf of City's support ask.

[12] Should the East End be open to Bristol City fans next season?
Yes 62 No 0

Closed question with a very clear answer.

At the same time an online questionnaire was ran and links put on zider heads
and otib forums for fans in general to cast their thoughts, those who took part
were the online bcfc community and not necessarily all eastend match attendees.
