The Scott Brown Interview
Q: How does it feel to be back playing reserve team football for Cheltenham and how fit are you now?

A: Its just a relief to be back playing football altogether to be honest, when it first happened I was told I wouldn't play again ever!! But after three operations I was looking at 9-12 months out. So I am just happy I have got the opportunity to play and prove myself.

Q: You went from being player of the month at City to being transferred to Cheltenham and fracturing your leg in a collision with a team mate [Damien Spencers] at Ashton Gate in months. Were you born this lucky?

A: It all happened so quickly. You know, I didn't want to leave, and to be honest it come from no where. At the time after getting injured I wasn't in the team. I asked Gary if it was worth me going on loan and he said no, next thing he's on the phone saying he's agreed a deal with Cheltenham for Wilson and me the other way, I said no, then he sent me there on loan, Told me I would be limited to chances with all the other players coming in and it was better for me to sign. So because I didn't feel wanted and to be fair John ward treated me so well I was happy to sign permanently

Q: What are your expectations this season for Scott Brown and Cheltenham?

A: For me personally just to get myself one hundred per cent fit, get back in the team, and try and help Cheltenham progress up the league and improve as a whole.

Q: Skins versus shirts! Do you always go on Damien Spencers side?

A: No. To be  fair the gaffer always has the sides picked before training, deffo try and kick him when I get the chance though, ha ha nah Dammo is a really nice (strong) lad and it wasn't his fault just a bad accident and hes always very apologetic.

Q: Cheltenham have struggled this season but have managed to beat Leeds. Why?

A: We seem to play really well and concentrate one hundred per cent for 90minutes against the stronger teams  and against thee lesser teams we seem to concede sloppy goals. As of late we've been playing quite well so hopefully we'll get a little run going.

Q: You were looked at as being the proverbial 100% player who would not pull out of tackles. Were you born like this, did it come from your parents or did coaches teach you to play in that manner?

A: Don't know what that means? But, err no I think that's just the way I have been brought up. I hate losing in anything I do whether it be football matches, tackles headers, arguments anything even computer games. Ask Wilksi [loud, short, balding City fan and mate of Mr Brown] that, he's my whipping boy ha ha.

Q: Trainspotters question! Bleep test [multi-stage fitness test] . As you're a fit bloke how many do you get up to and do have a high VO2 max ?

A: I don't know what that VO2 stuff is and that think my best on the bleep test is 13.1 but I don't think fitness is the main part of football, it helps but I feel determination, desire and the will to win gets you through games. When I play if I don't give everything I can and feel I can do more when the games over I am disappointed with myself.

Q: You were very popular amongst a section of City support any message for City fans?

A: I love them. Yeah, I really do. They treated me so well and I am thankful to every single one of them for the way they were with me. I'm glad the lads are doing so well in the championship, because its what the fans deserve for the support they give the lads and the club and hopefully they progress even further.

Q: At City you always played down the flank many think you would have been more effective down the middle. Where is your best position?

A: I'm not sure now to be honest I have been shifted round everywhere and feel comfortable all across the midfield. So anywhere really.

Q: Did it come as shock to leave Bristol City or was it a case of having to move on?

A: I didn't want to leave. Yeah, a great shock I was thinking I was getting a new contract soon and then next thing I'm at Cheltenham.

Q: Are you still in touch with any of City's players?

A: Yeah to be fair the lads at City are superb, couldn't meet a better bunch of lads the banter and camaraderie between them all is second to none and when It happened they were all very supportive to me. I was only 19 when I signed and the older lads, they brought me through and made me feel at home so to speak

Q: City have been near the top of the championship all season. Has this surprised you?

A: Not at all, no, I have no grudges against Gary and I think he's done a great job, as I have said before the lads are brilliant. You could tell the way they battered Middlesbrough last year that they were capable of well handling the championship. I think Bristol city has as been a comfortable championship side for the last 3-4 years it was just getting it right to get there.

Q: Who would you want as the next England manager?

A:  Alan Shearer with Tony Adams. English aren't we?

Q: Now the most important question. Having lived amongst the Wurzels and observed Wurzels etiquette is putting ice in cider a sign of rampant homosexuality?

A: Probably not as I do it an I am deffo not gay but Wilksi doesn't do it and hes proper gay hahahhahahaha
